In Fireflies, I felt strongly that the sky and Olivia, the main character, were intrinsically connected. Olivia’s rage, her pain, and her moments of joy, were expressed visually with the fiery angry sky, the quiet contemplative sky, and finally a sky that breaks open and becomes alive with fireflies.
